Privacy Policy
SplitOne (“we”, “us”) helps you track and share expenses. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who this applies to
People who create an account or use SplitOne at app.splitone.app, www.splitone.app, or the SplitOne mobile apps when published.
Information we collect
- Account. Email and password hash, or identifiers from Google Sign-In; optional display name; phone number if you use SMS one-time codes.
- Ledger content. Expenses, groups (spaces), balances, settlements, loans, budgets, goals, comments, and attachments you upload (for example receipts or payment proof).
- Contacts you invite. Names or handles you add when inviting friends or sharing a group.
- Device and usage. App version, platform, approximate diagnostics needed to keep the service reliable. If you enable push notifications, a device push token.
- Capture (optional, consent-gated). On Android, with your explicit permission, SplitOne can read transactional notification alerts on-device to suggest expenses. On iOS, capture uses Share Sheet / camera / OCR — not an SMS or notification listener. Raw alert text stays on your device unless you accept a share; shared members receive an expense summary, not the original alert text.
How we use information
- Provide the ledger, groups, settle-up, and related features
- Authenticate you (email, Google, or phone OTP)
- Send service messages you request (for example OTP codes)
- Secure the service, prevent abuse, and fix issues
- Improve SplitOne based on aggregated product usage
We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing
We share data only as needed to run SplitOne:
- Other members. Content you put in a group or friend thread is visible to participants according to sharing mode (private / aware / settle).
- Processors. Infrastructure and messaging providers that host or transmit data for us (for example cloud hosting for the API and storage, SMS verification for phone login, and Google if you choose Google Sign-In). They process data under their terms and our instructions.
- Legal. If required by law or to protect users and the service from fraud or abuse.
Retention
We keep account and ledger data while your account is active. You can delete expenses (including trash) and sign out. To request full account deletion, contact us using the email below; we will delete or anonymize personal data unless we must retain it for legal or security reasons.
Security
We use industry-standard controls (HTTPS, access controls, hashed passwords). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; please use a strong unique password and treat payment details carefully.
Children
SplitOne is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Do not create an account if you are under that age.
International processing
SplitOne may process data in the regions where our cloud providers operate (including India and other regions those providers use for resiliency). By using the service you understand that your information may be processed outside your home country with appropriate safeguards.
Your choices
- Update profile and payment handle details in Account
- Revoke capture / notification access in system settings anytime
- Disconnect Google access from your Google Account settings
- Contact us to export or delete your account data
Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the product when practical.
